Huntington Lake Resort Information

2011 SEASON – OPEN EARLY MAY THROUGHOUT LABOR DAY

Originally known as Home Creek Resort Huntington Lake Resort is the first resort on Huntington Lake. In 1910 the first road through to Home Creek was built. A group of ten men, using a plow and a scraper, created the 6 mile road. The first car to drive the new road was driven by Henry Allen, the owner of Allen's Lumberyard, which was located just above what was the Home Creek Trading Post. In 1913 the post office was put in service and the community of Huntington Lake, named for Henry E. Huntington, was established in 1916.

In recent years, the current owners have restored this historic location into a excellent place for a quiet getaway. The entire area has a history that can be absorbed through hiking and nature walks. Come on over to Huntington Lake Resort and treat yourself to what the historically beautiful location has to offer.

At Huntington Lake Resort, our staff is here to make sure that your stay with us is the best that it can be.
The Omachis (Owners)

Roy and I are life long residents of Fresno, CA. As a child my parents would take us camping at Camp Fresno, Dinkey Creek for a week long summer vacation with some of their friends. Consequently, I fell in love with the mountains. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that one day I would become the manager of Camp Fresno, but I was awarded a contract with the City of Fresno in 1992 to begin operations for the following summer. Although we lived in Fresno, we thought it would be great to own a cabin at Shaver Lake. After searching with no success, I asked my realtor, Cathy Binkard, about a listing I had seen posted at Huntington Lake. One afternoon we took a drive to the lake to see the resort. It was in September and everything was closed, but I fell in love with the lake and the area. Even though I was only looking for a cabin, I thought it would be a great opportunity for Roy to run as his own business. We discussed the possibilities all winter, and decided to move forward to purchase the resort. By mid-July we were the new owners. We had no experience with operating a restaurant or marina, but are blessed to have wonderful employees that have taken on the quest to make it a place that people will want to come and enjoy!
